My name is Jacob Taves and I am a film student based in Phoenix, Arizona, USA. With a passion for storytelling and creative visual expression, I specialize in creating dynamic and engaging video content.
I have loved film for as long as I can remember, first being inspired by movies like Raiders of the Lost Ark and Wall-E. Throughout my education I was constantly making small projects, which culminated in my first film festival win as a freshman in high school. As a film student at the Sidney Poitier New American Film School I have honed my skills in all aspects of video production, from concept development to filming, editing, color grading, and visual effects. With experience in both narrative and commercial content creation, I bring a unique perspective and a fresh approach to every project I undertake. In my free time I enjoy watching movies, reading sci-fi books, and fishing.
EXPERIENCE -
During my time as a film student, I have received several awards and recognitions for my work, including:
2019 - Best Narrative Film, NXNW Film Festival, 2021 - NXNW Film Festival, Audience Choice Award, 2022 - Finalist, Arizona Student Film Festival and 2024 - IFP Audience Favorite Award. I have also interned as an editor for the Arizona Game and Fish Department, and for the archives department of Paramount Pictures. For the past two years I have worked as an editor for Psych for Life, a partner of Arizona State University.
